Ant Group

Ant Group, formerly Ant Financial, is an affiliate company of the leading Chinese e-commerce player Alibaba Group. Ant Group owns China’s most prominent digital payment platform, Alipay, which serves over one million users and 80 million merchants, with total payment volume (TPV) reaching RMB118 trillion in June 2020. They strive to give all consumers and small businesses equal access to financial and other services through technology.

 

Over the years, we have worked with Ant Group on a wide range of videos, from corporate videos to customer credentials, to deliver the company’s key business messages and help educate its stakeholders in an efficient, engaging and accessible manner.



Ant Group is efficiently introducing new products and services in China's rapidly growing technology scene that adopt the latest technologies for a better user experience. Therefore, we also work with them to renew their corporate videos covering the latest business developments.

 

In addition to the essential products and services, Ant’s corporate video 2018 added Ant Forest, an award-winning initiative that the company initiated to promote a greener lifestyle by inspiring users to reduce carbon emissions daily and better protect the environment. Originally focused on business perspectives, we recommended adding this social element to the video, which added to the overall story.




A few years ago, the senior management of Ant Group was invited to speak at Money 20/20, the largest global conference for payment and financial services players. They wanted to introduce the company’s platform and services to the audience at the event using an easily understandable video.


The video featured several characters who used various services of Ant Group throughout their day, where we used a “selfie” style transition to show other functions as a chapter marker. In addition, to showcase how Ant has become an indispensable part of people’s daily lives, we also used Paytm, the leading mobile payment solution in India and the world’s 4th largest mobile wallet, as an example to demonstrate Ant Group’s global strategic alliance.

To show the five essential functions, we created the scenario of a young couple who could interact with each other and other selected characters to bring Ant's options to life. The story started with the couple’s plan to travel overseas, where we featured several travel-related functions of Ant. Before travelling overseas, the couple visited the girl’s mother, who uses Alipay for wealth management and investment purposes. At a friends’ gathering, the youngsters showcased the social payment, local lifestyle search, and booking options available on Ant’s applications.


The film was filmed in Hangzhou, China, and produced in Hong Kong. Alex Wilson, the founder of Taipan Media, wrote and made this video story with a production crew in Hong Kong and a local support team in Hangzhou.


The production team from Hong Kong was responsible for developing and producing the video story, and our team of suppliers in Hangzhou took care of the logistics, for instance, gear rental and specialist crew, location scouting, casting agents, makeup and hair, wardrobe, and camera assistants and actors, etc. A New Zealand production house, ToyBox, made the animation.
